Upcoming Archives of Psychiatric Nursing Special Issues

Please consider submitting a manuscript to one of the following upcoming special issues of Archives. We are particularly interested in papers representing any age group along the lifespan.  Please note the extension of due dates.

1)   LGBTQIA+ Mental Health

Limited access to inclusive, affirming mental health care combined with exposure to stigmatizing and discriminatory experiences has resulted in multiple mental  health disparities in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and other sexual and gender minorities  people (LGBTQIA⁺). Compared to the general population, they are more likely to experience depression and anxiety, report serious psychological distress, be diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, and attempt suicide. As critical members of the clinical team, advanced practice psychiatric-mental health nurses are uniquely positioned to improve the mental health outcomes of their LGBTQIA+ patients. We are seeking articles focused on theory, clinical practice, evidence-based practice (EBP), research and policy in this population across the lifespan.  Articles addressing the impact of anti-LGBTQIA+ political rhetoric and legislation along with papers highlighting the experiences of LGBTQIA+ youth are also encouraged.  Submission due date is now July 1, 2023.  Please feel free to contact the guest editors of this special issue with questions or if intending to submit.

2)  Firearms Violence

Mental health related to the lived experience, consequences and research on firearms violence. Articles may address firearm violence experience from scholarly, poetry, personal, justice involvement, legislative, and policy perspectives. The topic of firearm violence affects many sensibilities and to that end, we anticipate a special issue that presents the topic from many viewpoints. **Feel free to contact the special issue guest editors if interested in submitting. 3) Mental Health of Indigenous People

The mental health of Indigenous people and communities. Depression, substance use, trauma, anxiety, stress, and suicide represent some of the areas of the mental health needs of Indigenous peoples. Articles should address the intersection of these needs with the social, cultural, political, and historic contexts in which they occur. As with other special issues, we welcome submissions of manuscripts reflecting our work with populations across the lifespan.
