The Experience of Marginalization Among Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses:
A Cross-Sectional Study
My name is Danielle Morgan, I am a Psychiatric APRN and a PhD Candidate at the University of Arizona College of Nursing. I am seeking your voluntary participation in a dissertation study. The purpose of this research study is to describe and compare the differences in self-reported marginalization within the psychiatric APRN community, while describing the potential role marginalization may have in the psychiatric APRN’s resilience, interactions with patients, their professional community, their career trajectory, and their personal well-being.
Global mental health provider shortages are increasing across clinical and academic domains.
A gap remains in understanding what effect this professional marginalization may have on the global trends of early exit from practice, provider shortage, and increasing provider suicides.
Eligible study participants include:
- Clinically practicing (a minimum of 4 hours a week), psychiatric APRNs
- Must be practicing in the Unites States
The survey takes about 20 minutes of your time. As global nursing shortages threaten health care markets, it becomes pertinent to assess the role marginalization may play in APRN provider acculturation and community dynamics.
