Cahill 4 is an adult Psychiatric locked unit. There are 18 beds available on this inpatient unit of which we see various types of psychiatric illnesses such as schizophrenia bi-polar and affective disorders, personality disorders, detox, adjustment disorder, psychosis, and use DBT/CBT group therapy. According to DMH, we have lower-than-average restraint use, use sensory approach to de-escalating patients, and all staff are educated in trauma informed care with provides each patient with individualized care.CHA is seeking a Nurse Manager who would be responsible for Cahill 4 at The Cambridge Hospital.

Cahill 4 is an 18-bed secure psychiatric unit which provides short-term psychiatric care for adults age 18 and older. Treatment focus is assessment, stabilization and aftercare planning for the patient. A multidisciplinary team approach is used in working with patients. It is located at the CHA Cambridge Hospital campus and serves people of all ages across the Greater Boston region. 24-hour accountability and responsibility for nursing care delivered to patients, as well as supervision of nursing staff.

Job Requirements:

  • Current Massachusetts RN licensure and Bachelor of Science in Nursing required. Master's Degree is preferred.
  • American Heart Association BLS required.
  • At least five years clinical experience in an Acute Psychiatric Nursing is required.
  • Candidate must have demonstrated leadership and management abilities.

All newly hired candidates will be required to pass the agility portion of the occupational health physical.

Nurse Manager – Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry

Department: The Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatric Service is a 14-inpatient bed department located in the Cambridge Hospital. The adolescent unit serves adolescents from across the state of Massachusetts. There is a collaborative multi-disciplinary team approach.

Job Purpose: 24-hour/7 days a week administrative and clinical accountability for the unit, supervising RNs, Milieu Counselors and Unit Secretaries. Responsible for the patient experience of care which encompasses staff engagement, patient safety, quality and the overall patient experience. Responsible for hiring developing, coaching and maintaining a competent and engaged staff. Responsible for program development and implementation of evidenced based practices, and adherence to regulatory and licensing agency requirements. Must develop an annual staffing plan, and manage expenses. Must be able to partner with the Medical Director/Chief of Child Psychiatry and the manager of the Child Assessment Unit, to assure a common standard of care and uphold a philosophy of empathy and compassion for the patients and families we serve.


  • Current Massachusetts RN licensure

The Clinical Nurse Specialist, psychiatric/mental health, (CNS/PMH), is an advanced practice registered nurse who provides a full range of nursing services from mental health promotion to mental illness rehabilitation. As a primary mental health care provider, the clinical nurse specialist, psychiatric/mental health, provides psychotherapy, clinical supervision, consultation, and liaison services. The clinical nurse specialist, psychiatric/mental health, must practice in accordance with the Board-approved current standards of the American Nurses Association's A Statement on Psychiatric-Mental Health Clinical Nursing Practice and Standards of Psychiatric-Mental Health Clinical Nursing Practice. Performs history and physical examinations and carries out appropriate intervention/procedures as determined by the plan of care.

Compensation & Location

This position will be based out of Colorado Springs, CO. This is a full-time position that is available for immediate hire.
