Health Sciences Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor - UC PMHNP Certificate Program (50% Time)

The Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) is seeking stellar applicants for the position of Health Sciences Clinical Professor at the Assistant or Associate rank to teach within the new multicampus UC Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Certificate Program. Successful candidates will be responsible for various aspects of the UC PMHNP Certificate Program, including teaching in the postgraduate certificate program, serving as the lead faculty member for UC Irvine’s Southern California region, serving as part of the program’s leadership group, and engaging in developing and recruiting clinical training partnerships for PMHNP students within UC Irvine’s catchment area.

The University of California (UC) PMHNP Certificate Program will be operated and managed by the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis and will be offered through an innovative multicampus collaboration with all other UC Schools of Nursing: UCI Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing, UCLA School of Nursing and the UCSF School of Nursing. The four Schools of Nursing are committed to expanding the psychiatric mental health workforce needs of the State of California, particularly in the most rural and underserved regions of the state.

This professor opportunity is a hybrid position requiring occasional travel to the Irvine, CA home office for program immersion opportunities and/or planning, training, and programmatic activities. If candidates does not live in the Irvine region, they must be able to travel to the Irvine area for all in-person events and experiences. Regardless of a candidate’s location, all applicants must meet all State of California licensure, board-certification, and experience requirements needed to successfully practice within the state. Candidates must also be familiar with California nursing scope of practice policies, requirements, and procedures for PMHNPs and be familiar with the geographic regions and needs of the state.Responsibilities include working in collaboration with program lead faculty from the other three School of Nursing partner schools, as well as the Program Director at UC Davis, to ensure quality program curriculum and instruction in the didactic phase of the program.

Duties include course management, teaching, skills labs, student advisement, and student formative and summative evaluation. This candidate will assist in designing and executing a state-wide ambassador program (with other campuses) for interprofessional champions to help others understand the PMHNP role and help set an innovative model of collaboration rather than competition. Nurse Manager - Biobehavioral Health Unit

The Nurse Manager assumes primary leadership and management of defined clinical nursing areas to facilitate and deliver comprehensive quality nursing care and to manage the environment in which care is given. Major functions include: goals, planning, customer service/marketing, standards, certification and accreditation, administrative management, budget/cost containment, communication, and education. Ensures adherence to hospital or department and university policies and to nursing policies, procedures, standards, and practices.

The Nurse Manager exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures. The Nurse Manager of the Biobehavioral Health unit will participate in planning and staffing of this exciting new unit and will be part of the development of this innovative unit unique to Central New York and the surrounding area.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing or Masters degree in Nursing required.
  • NYS License/Registration (or eligible) Registered Nurse required.
  • Three years post-licensure acute care RN experience (preferably in specialty area) to include leadership experience required.
  • Excellent written/oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
  • CPR-BLS required by time of appointment.
  • Nursing Leadership certification upon appointment or obtained within three years of appointment.

Part-Time, Whole Health Family Nurse Practitioner

Excellent opportunity for a Family Nurse Practitioner to practice within an integrative care, primarily behavioral health, clinical setting. Our robust and experienced team focuses on behavioral medicine from a medical and a mental health perspective. This is a unique opportunity for an FNP to be integrated into a behavioral health setting. The Whole Health FNP will work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists, case managers, and peer supports to manage the primary care of complex behavioral health patients. The FNP will conduct clinical assessments, implement appropriate treatment plans, and assist with care coordination with other members of the patient care team. This healthcare team member will also provide health education to patients, family members, and significant others. The applicant should have an interest in preventive care, health maintenance, management of chronic medical conditions, improving access to primary care and sub-specialists, and be excited about working with a high-performance clinical team that always puts patients first.
